A Celebration of Prosperity, Longevity and Good Fortune
A feature of Chinese New Year food is the use of ingredients intended to represent the 3 wishes. ‘Prosperity’ is represented by the use of Gold, golden coloured ingredients or anything which sounds like the word gold. ‘Fortune & Luck’ are usually symbolised by the colour red and ‘Longevity’ is often represented through long strands of noodles which have not been cut. Each Chinese culture around the world have variations of these traditions - ours are from the Nanyang region.
