Class 1 Class 2 Class 3

The Pirelli Porsche Cup is a Race Series designed for fairly standard Porsches which must in fact possess an MOT certificate authorising their use on roads. The series is divided into 3 classes - with age and/or power separating the classes. Class 1 cars would include the Brand New Porsche 911 (996), the Porsche 993, Carrera 2, 944 Turbo and 928. Class 2 would include cars like the Porsche Boxster, 911 3.2 Carrera, 968, 220HP 944 Turbos and 944 S2s. The final class is Class 3 with Porsche 944 2.7litre, 944 2.5 litre and the Porsche 924s. Cars within each class are matched evenly by placing extra weight inside cars which have an 'unfair advantage' in power and/or cornering ability.

With one exception, winners of each class are allocated the same number of points so it is perfectly possible for a Class 3 car to win the entire championship even if it never finishes the race in front of the entire field of cars - effectively, you only race with cars within your class although beating a car one class up from you can be a very satisfying result.

Races take place within the circuits of Great Britain with one meeting in Belgium at Spa - one of the circuits hosting Formula 1 races.

The Series is run by the Porsche Club of Great Britain's Motor Sport division and coordinated by Mr. John Farren.
